Lodge Executive Committee (LEC) Meeting Minutes
March 26, 2026, 7:00 p.m.
Heart of America Council Service Center

 

  1. Call to Order
    • The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by the Lodge Chief, Jedi.  The meeting opened with the Pledge of Allegiance and the OA Obligation.  There were 57 members in attendance. 
  2. Old Business
    • Approval of February LEC Minutes
      • The Lodge Secretary, Jacqueline, presented the minutes from last month.
      • Jedi made a motion to approve the minutes.
      • Joshua seconded the motion.
      • Minutes were approved by general consent in a voice vote.
  3. Safety Moment – Rachel Herrera, Associate Lodge Adviser for Program
    • Discussed the locations of AEDs at Camp Naish and other facilities.
    • Emphasized the importance of knowing AED locations in case of emergency.
  4. New Business
    • Lodge Chief – Jedi.  The Chief opened the meeting by reviewing commonly used lodge and national acronyms to ensure clarity for all attendees. He explained the Service Spark Award, including its purpose and eligibility requirements. Introductions and sign‑in were completed. The Chief announced that nominations for both the Vigil Honor and the Founder’s Award are now open. He also reviewed the THRIVE initiative and its goals for lodge improvement. Lastly, he notes that the next LEC meeting will be held on April 16th at 6:30 PM.
    • Vice Chief of Program – Joshua.  The Vice Chief of Program provided updates on the OA Mini Adventure, Section Conclave, and the Winter Banquet.
      • Conclave: Registration is closing soon. Merchandise availability was announced, with t‑shirts, patches, and neckerchiefs already sold out.
      • Naish 100-Year Anniversary: Planning for the celebration is underway. 
    • Vice Chief of Chapters – Adrian.  The Vice Chief of Chapters shared that the Council of Chiefs is focusing on increasing chapter participation across the lodge.
      • Iron Horse: Preparing for upcoming events, including “Lasagna with Love.”
      • Soaring Eagle: Promoting OA membership and scheduling unit elections.
      • Kaw: Continuing elections and recently hosted a board game activity.
      • Three Trails: Planning an upcoming pizza party and continuing elections.
      • North Star: Preparing for an upcoming call‑out ceremony and planning OA Unit Representative training for the April meeting.
      • Lone Bear: Working on future events and training opportunities.
      • Blue Elk: Actively conducting elections and forming additional election teams.
    • Vice Chief of Communications – Jacqueline.  The VCC provided updates on social media activity and progress on the THRIVE communication goals.
      • Chairmen Reports:  Updates were shared by the Historian, Newsletter, and Social Media chairmen regarding ongoing projects and content development.
    • Vice Chief of Inductions – Luka.  The Vice Chief of Inductions recapped the recent Brotherhood Day event. Spring Induction #1 is scheduled for April 24–25, and Arrowmen were encouraged to sign up for staff positions, which count toward advancement requirements.
      • Ceremonies: Ongoing changes were noted; no specific attire is currently required. Full updates are expected by 2027.
      • EPSS: Medical boxes in staff cabins are being updated and replaced.
      • Nimat: Recognition was given for increased volunteer sign‑ups.
    • Vice Chief of Administration – Jackson.  The Vice Chief of Administration reported that membership is declining nationally and encouraged a renewed focus on recruitment. Brotherhood Day saw 142 attendees, with 46 Arrowmen sealing their membership. LLD attendance numbers were shared. The VCA emphasized that peer‑on‑peer abuse training is overdue for many members and strongly encouraged completion.
      • Chairmen Reports:  Updates were provided on membership tracking and event registration processes.
    • Vice Chief of Finance – Alex.  The Vice Chief of Finance reviewed the current budget and noted that reimbursement form updates are in progress.
      • Chairmen Reports:  Fundraising and Trading Post chairmen shared updates on revenue, inventory, and upcoming opportunities.
  5. Open Floor Discussion
    • Eagle Scout Fountain Clean‑Up: A call was put forth for Arrowmen, Scouts, families, and friends to join in serving one of Kansas City’s most iconic Scouting landmarks on Saturday, April 18, from 9:00–11:00 AM at the Eagle Scout Memorial Fountain.  The Council is teaming up with Kansas City Parks & Recreation as part of the Great Kansas City Cleanup, a citywide Earth Day effort to keep KC clean, green, and beautiful. 
    • Section Business:  Information was shared about Section G6 Conclave, scheduled for April 10–12, 2026 at Camp Naish. The theme and planned activities were previewed, and merchandise availability was announced. Candidates for section office must receive approval and submit their applications. Operation Arrow was discussed as a pathway for Arrowmen interested in attending the National Jamboree.
  6. Adviser’s Minute(s) – Rachel Herrera
    • The Adviser shared closing thoughts with the committee.
  7. Closing
    • The Chief gave his final remarks, along with reminders about upcoming events and opportunities for involvement.
    • The meeting concluded with the OA Song.
